Geartronic stuck in Park (intermittent)

Hi RKH, The gearlever can only be moved when the brake-pedal is pressed and ignition on (electrical release). I therefore expect a faulty switch/sensor near the brake pedal or dodgy wiring/connector

Thanks for the replies Guy's. I am tending toward the solenoid myself. It is energising, but sticking occasionally after the car has been stood for a couple of days. Good to know the replacement solenoid is available and not too expensive. How easy was it to fit?

When holding the stick, you can feel the solenoid energise, and try to move when you subsequently press the brake. Mine wasn't moving enough, hence it Kept getting stuck in park. Problem was intermitent, hence difficult for the garage to diagnose. Finally it happened in the garage and they instantly fixed the problem, took only half an hour.
