Fuel Filter= +70 miles per tank?

I recently changed my fuel filter (as it should be changed according to service job sheets from Volvo in the past ,I saw them on old service history from previous owners) Amazingly, I now get around 70 miles more per tank....... last time it was changed at 70k and I changed it recently on 131k, so if anyone had the same experience before it would be great to hear if I have just been making the extra miles up, or fuel filter would really make this change

ok, being lazy, i'm going to ask, where is it and how easy is it to change?

Had the fuel filter changed on mine not so long ago and I did notice an immediate improvement in fuel economy but then it was overdue. Probably got another couple of mpg. Averaging 33mpg indicated! That was until my rear brakes started binding grrr :angry:

Nice one ocean, cheers lad. I got a jobbie off fleebay which is ment to improve fuel econ, must get that fitted 1st, i'll take pic's and see if its any good, then i can recommend or advise against. Its basically a alloy strip which you wrap into a circle, bend some fins into it and place it in the intake pipe, its ment to swirl the air to make it burn more efficently. For a tenner i thought, what the hell lol
